Big Snow -- Last Ditch Effort by Winter

Winter hit Anchorage with the largest dump on record for this date yesterday and last night. As you can see from the picture we had well over a foot of fairly wet snow. All the snow that you see fell in a little over 24 hours. The ground was pretty well clear until yesterday morning.

Linda and I stayed home today....the roads are a mess. This snow won't last. There's too much sunlight and above freezing temperatures. But there's sure going to be a lot of water running around here for the next week or so.

I can't help but think about the migrating birds that have come this way. The geese that arrived a couple of weeks ago must be having trouble finding sufficient food, not to mention the smaller birds that are less obvious.
