Winter hit Anchorage with the largest dump on record for this date yesterday and last night. As you can see from the picture we had well over a foot of fairly wet snow. All the snow that you see fell in a little over 24 hours. The ground was pretty well clear until yesterday morning.Linda and I stayed home today....the roads are a mess. This snow won't last. There's too much sunlight and above freezing temperatures. But there's sure going to be a lot of water running around here for the next week or so.
I can't help but think about the migrating birds that have come this way. The geese that arrived a couple of weeks ago must be having trouble finding sufficient food, not to mention the smaller birds that are less obvious.
